Louisiana Laws
Although Louisiana does not have a specific e-notary law, the current laws indiciate that e-notarization may be permittable. Louisiana's Uniform Electronic Trasactions Act (La. R.S. 9:2601 et seq,) provides (at R.S. 9:2611) that notaries may sign acts with electronic signatures. TITLE 9 - Civil Code-Ancillaries RS 9:2611 - Notarization and acknowledgment Universal Citation: LA Rev Stat § 9:2611 (2017) §2611. Notarization and acknowledgment if a law requires a signature or record to be notarized, acknowledged, verified, or made under oath, the requirement is satisfied if the electronic signature of the person authorized to perform those acts, together with all other information required to be included by other applicable law, is attached to or logically associated with the signature or record. Acts 2001, No. 244, §1, eff. July 1, 2001.
